Grillo, Architect, P.C. Size: 14,000 s/f Cost: $1.5 million Stalco expanded and completely renovated the 14,000-s/f Southold IGA Supermarket. The project encompassed renovation of a pre-existing one-story building with basement, demolition and reconstruction of sections of the exterior wall and steel structure, a new roof, interior demolition, all new interior finishes, and new building systems. The store features the 12,000-square foot main sales floor, Deli and Butcher Shop sections, cash register area, basement storage, walk-in coolers and freezers, manager’s office, bathrooms, and hydraulic elevator. Exterior work included installation of the 70-foot wide glass and aluminum storefront; new windows; 200-foot long canopy; replacement of 7,000 s/f of the EPDM roof; new steel joist roof support structure; replacement of large sections of the structural steel system; re-coating of the 30,000-s/f surface parking; repairing and partial re-pointing of brick; and installation of new HardiPlank in selected façade sections. Interior finishes include VET tiles and ornamental imitation slate and wood flooring; suspended acoustical tile ceilings; recessed fluorescent lighting fixtures; and painted gypsum board walls.
